Same message, no context

Couples were sending near-identical enquiries to multiple vendors. No budget, no date, no specific need attached. Every lead looked the same on the other end, so qualification was impossible. Vendors started ignoring enquiries entirely, including the real ones, because there was no way to tell a serious couple from someone just browsing.
The instinctive fix is to collect a full profile at signup, before showing anything. That makes it worse. Asked for personal information before they've seen any value, people either abandon the form or fill it with whatever gets them through. False data is worse than none. A qualification system built on invented budgets looks like it's working while it quietly produces garbage leads.
Value before the ask
I rejected collecting a full profile upfront. The flow now shows what a couple gets, faster matching, curated picks by style and budget, before asking for anything, with a clear option to skip and come back later. It's a slower path to complete data. The data that does arrive is more likely to be real, since nobody's inventing a budget just to clear a gate.
Date first, not budget

The first question isn't name or budget. It's the wedding date. Low friction to answer, and a genuinely strong signal: a couple with a date is planning, not window shopping. Budget or vendor-type questions came first in the original version. I moved them back, since they carry less certainty this early and feel like a bigger ask before any value has been shown.
Matches while you answer

As a couple answers each question, matching vendor cards update above it in real time. The value promised in the first screen isn't just a claim anymore, it's visibly happening mid-flow. A conventional form with a progress bar and no payoff until the end makes people wait for value instead of watching it arrive, which defeats the point of asking gently in the first place.
What shipped
This flow shipped as part of Wedoura's live V1.
Same limitation as the vendor side of this product. I was solo, client-facing, and the engagement ended before I had access to completion rates or lead-quality data. I don't know whether progressive onboarding actually improved lead quality, or just moved the same behavior later in the flow. That's the one number I most wish I had.
What's still unmeasured
This is the other half of the same marketplace.
