Rebranding a traditional builder's logo
KG Builders. KG Constructions. KG Real Estates. Three businesses under one family name, and one identity that still looked stuck in an older era.
They wanted to look current without losing who they actually are. Their own suggestion for the palette was grey, the colour of raw concrete, since that is the material the whole business is actually built from.
Before drawing anything, I looked at competitors running the same kind of business around them in Thoothukudi, just to see what everyone else already looked like, so this mark would not blend into that same row of boards.
The logo folds K and G into one shape, with the curve at the base pulling from real building lines you see around Thoothukudi rather than a generic skyscraper reference. There is a motion version too, a short animated build before it settles into the static mark
It is already out in the world now, on site boards, on flex banners, on paperwork, everywhere a construction brand actually lives day to day. What stuck with me was what the client said afterward, that the mark makes them feel visible to a younger generation too, without giving up the traditional feel that got them this far in the first place.
Traditional and current were never really opposites here. They just needed one shape that could hold both without either side apologising for the other.
