Why I started designing with motion

Harishkumar MProduct Designer & Developer

For a long time I explained a design system with a screenshot and a paragraph underneath it. That never actually worked as well as I wanted it to. At Thebrandopedia, I got the room to test something different. Instead of a static mockup and a long explanation, show the system actually moving. A colour rule, a transition, a state change, happening in front of someone instead of described to them. The difference showed up fast. A static screen asks someone to imagine the motion in their head first. A moving one just shows them, and it lands in seconds instead of a paragraph. Four pieces below, each one built to explain a concept through movement rather than a frozen frame. Colour logic, transitions between states, the kind of thing that used to take five hundred words now takes four seconds 🎬 Still refining how far to take this. Some concepts want restraint, not spectacle, and I am still learning exactly where that line sits. The goal was never to make it look impressive. It was to make it obvious. #motiondesign
