DocLynk - Interaction design

Sharing a post with a colleague should not feel like a small chore. In most apps it is several taps, a wait for a sheet to load, and a scroll to find the right person. DocLynk is a professional network for doctors, where passing a post to a colleague is a natural thing to do. So I designed swipe to share, an interaction that lets you send a post to people in your network in one gesture, without leaving the feed. Swipe a post and a small haptic pulse tells you it registered. A bottom sheet opens with your recent contacts at the top, because most of the time you are sending to the same few people. Search sits right below for everyone else. Pick one person or several, send, and the sheet closes. The design question was where the effort should go. A tap on a share icon asks for your attention at every step. A swipe asks for one movement, and the haptic answers it, so you never have to wonder whether it worked. This is a piece of interaction design I did for DocLynk, the healthcare networking app live on Android, iOS and web. A good shortcut does not feel like one.
