Logo design for a family catering business
Sixteen years of catering. No logo, no website, no way for anyone to find them online. Word of mouth was the entire marketing plan, and it worked, mostly because the food was good enough to be worth talking about.
This one is personal. Arumugam Subam Caters is my family's business, and I finally sat down to give it an actual identity.
The name did most of the work before I even opened Figma. Arumugam is another name for Lord Murugan, and the peacock is his vehicle. So the peacock was never really a decision, it was already sitting inside the name, waiting to be used.
I built the spoon and fork into the same mark, curved around the peacock so the shape reads as food first and heritage second, or the other way round depending on who is looking. Quality home cooking, and where the name actually comes from, in one symbol.
These are a few of the color directions I tested for the business card. Blue felt trustworthy without losing the warmth the peacock already carries, but I liked seeing the mark hold up across teal, olive, and green too.
sixteen years of good food finally has a face
